Today’s Tubespiration Example: The Metropolitan Railway

The Metropolitan Railway – the forerunner to today’s Metropolitan Line – actually made more money from property than it did running trains.

It coined the term ‘Metro-Land’ in 1915 to promote suburban living. The name was further popularised by poet Laureate John Betjeman and even by writer Evelyn Waugh, who created the character Margot Metroland in his early novels.

• Could you make more money or get better results from doing something different?
• Would you be better focussing your energies on just one thing?
• Do you need to redefine what you do?
• Is there any character from fiction that inspires you?
