Guess which Tube station has the most Tube stations?
The answer is the District Line, even though it is only the fourth longest Tube line and was originally conceived of as an extension of the Metroploitan Railway. Yet the District Line has 60 stations serving the travelling public. It is also the only Line to boast two bridges over the Thames.
The Line was even dismissed by the poet Sir John Betjeman referring to is as ‘the rather uninteresting ‘District Railway’.
All of us have in our lives unsung heroes, maybe something we take for granted.
